TAPER FADE HAIRCUT

The Taper Fade Haircut is a very unique hairstyle; it has been around for quite some time now, but just like any other fashion or hairstyle, it has been on an uptrend lately. Celebrities, influencers,  sports personnel and your average teenage boy all seem to like this haircut at the moment.

This kind of haircut can be very classy, suit any occasion, and still portray that gentleman’s look. Just imagine in the cold winter months when most men want to keep some hair on their heads for warmth; the barber will probably suggest a haircut like this.

So here is a breakdown of what this taper Fade Haircut is; back in the old days most men would just ask for a taper fade and the barber would just use his discretion and give him a tape based on the shape of his face, but nowadays it more common for clients to ask for a high taper, mid tape or a low taper. Truth is even though they are all “Taper Fade”, there are a few differences between all three.

This kind of fade is done by just making a small guideline at the back of the client’s head in the lower area, and also above the sideburns or side whiskers and just gradually fading out those guidelines, the guideline can be skin, 0.5 or a #1 blade. Let’s take a look at these different tapers, from low to high.

When doing a low taper, the barber would make the guideline just above the sideburns or just below what some people call the C Cup, and just gradually fade that guideline out. The key thing to note is that this small fade shouldn’t involve fading behind the ears, but if you have to keep it very minimal.

When doing a mid-taper, the barber would make the guideline parallel with the C Cup or just a little below the C Cup, and just gradually fade that guideline out, Also important reminder is that this small fade shouldn’t involve fading behind the ears, but if you have to keep it very minimal.

Finally, with a high taper, the barber would make the guideline above the C Cup, how high one goes with this guideline would be based on what the barber envisions, anyone trying to attempt this kind of taper should be careful not to get too carried away, which could result in the high taper looking like a totally different haircut, these types of taper are very unique. This guideline is then gradually faded out, Also important reminder is that this small fade shouldn’t involve fading behind the ears, but if you have to, again keep it very minimal.
